"School Work" Problems Teenagers Face

There are many problems that teenagers face these days. They are peer pressure, crime and drugs.

Peer pressure is a term describing a person's changes, or temptations to change, in attitude, behavior and morals as directly influenced by their peer group.
It is particularly common because most youths are forced to spend large amounts of time in fixed groups regardless of their opinion of those groups. Also, young people are more willing to behave negatively towards those who are not members of their groups such as teasing and bullying, whereas adult maturity generally precludes this type of behaviour being overtly performed. Peer pressure is also considered by many to be the root cause of several recent tragedies involving young people. Here is an example of peer pressure. If someone in the class was something special or expensive, it will force their classmates to have something of an equal or higher value (either in money or how special the item is). Even if one has something cheap yet useful, that person would want to spend money one something of equal use yet higher cost. This may lead to spending a lot of money one a white elephant. If one fails to do so because of one reason or another, that person will feel pressurised. She/ he will not be able to compare with their friends. This may cause teasing and bullying. If that person has not enough money, he/she will result to my next two points, crime and drugs.

Crime is violation of the law. There are many kinds of crime such as murder and kidnapping but I will focus on robbing and stealing. After robbery and stealing, one will obtain something valuable, usually money. Teenagers who fail to obtain expensive items result to stealing or robbery. They want the money to buy the expensive product to compare with their friends. However, if they get caught, they will be send to prison and they will be have a horrible record on their lives.

Another path is drugs. If the teen is unable to get something to compare with their friends, they may go into depression. When they are in depression, they think that taking drugs or tobacco smoking will be a form of relieve. Eventually, they will be hooked on drugs and spend all their money on drugs. Selling drugs would be an easy way for most teenagers to make money. However, they fail to realise that it is a criminal offence and they can be jailed once caught.

The three point are a domino effect, one will lead to another. So, to sum up all the three points, I will use an example. Let's say we have a teenager named Bob. Bob is not very rich but is not very poor either. His classmate has the latest handphone model and that phone has many good features. Bob's handphone is a simple phone with not many features. His classmate teased him for having a lousy phone model so he asked his parents to get a new phone. However, his parents refuse. So, Bob results to crime to solve his problem. He sells drugs, rob and steal money from people. When he gets caught, he is send to prison and when he wants to go to university, the principal may think twice in accepting him due to that criminal record.

Ocean newest Number 13

So you got 11 and you got 12. Now it's time to break up numbers with unlucky 13. So who's unlucky in this new movie. Sure 'Revenge is a funny thing' but how about luck. Watch it to find out. Expected intelligence even the top boy in your class can't think about. If your in for a part-mystery-use-your-brain-but-even-you-can't-think-about (trust me it's easy to understand) movie, catch it.
Casino Winner!: 9.5/10

Mental note: Watch the other two first or go with someone who does not mind telling you what's going on because he/she watch the first two movies and you did not. It is quite inportant.

Song for the last and this week

Hey. I has been a long time since I updated. Sorry about that so now I'm introducing two new songs for the weeks I did not update. You would realise that they are from Disney Channel's original upcoming movie Jump In. Staring Corbin Bleu from High School Musical (he has an album, by the way. I'm not sure is it out. I took two songs from the soundtrack. The first one is Vertical sung by T-Squad. You will realise it has a little alternative feeling to it. The second is a calmer song by Jordan Pruitt. It is called Jump To The Rhythm. Although it is a bubble gum pop song, it is still a feel good song.

(Hook)
I won’t ( I won’t) won’t be held down
be stuck here on the ground. Yes sir! It’s the real me (real me)
I have found and I’m risin’ up (risin’ up!) . (x2)

[Verse 1]
Your feelin’ something’s incomplete, your faith is where a concrete seat, and they refuse to make a move , this can’t be
your life.
You know that something’s out of step, cause you ain’t found the rhythm yet. Break from one, a different drum, this one is
right.
I believe that I can be both the same thing. Watch me spread my wings.

[Chorus]
I’m goin’ vertical, a dream gets to fly. It’s like a miracle, a reach through the sky.
If you want it you need it, now you’ve just got to free it.
And it goes vertical,vertical.

[Verse 2]
Why shouldn’t I have locked the door, that’s what I got my own key for.
I don’t care whos keeping score, I’m not gonna lose. Don’t matter what I won’t forget, only what is represents. It’s in my
head it’s making sense, I’m gonna choose.
To believe that I can be both the same thing. Watch me spread my wings.

[Chorus]
I’m goin’ vertical, a dream gets to fly. It’s like a miracle, a reach through the sky.
If you want it you need it, now you’ve just got to free it.
And it goes vertical..

[Hook]
I won’t ( I won’t) won’t be held down
be stuck here on the ground. Yes sir! It’s the real me (real me)
I have found and I’m risin’ up (risin’ up!).(x2)

[Chorus (broken up) ]
Vertical (interlude) a miracle. If you want it,
you need it.Free it. Vertical. .

[Chorus]
I’m goin’ vertical, a dream gets to fly. It’s like a miracle, a reach through the sky.
If you want it you need it, now you’ve just got to free it,
and it goes vertical
Vertical!

Jolly June or Bored to Death?

It's the June holidays. YAY! But let's face it, a week or few days and everything is a total yawn. I know. Me too. So to help ease the pain, I came up with some things to do. (It may not work, but it's worth a try!)

1) Read my blog!!
Advantages: You can make a special boy feel very happy!
Disadvantages: I'll be honest. I don't update all the time. Try every week or so.

2) Chill out at your Neighbour's place
Advantages: It s a serious time consumer but hey it passes the time
Disadvantages: Duh! They are not there all the time.
P.S Call before going over

3) Force your family to do something outrageous. I.e go on a holiday. Amusement parks!!!!
Advantages: Fun with a capital 'F'
Disadvantages: Your family may not like it. The creeps!

4) Doing something stupid on your own. I.e play some kiddish game you like when you were young. HEHE.
Advantages: You... get to be young again?!?1?!?!?
Disadvantages: By now, you may think it's lame.

5)Do something detective like. I.e read a detective book. Wait for someone younger to come like your cousins and play detective.
Advantages: It looks lame, but it's fun! If you play it well... You may feel like Sherlock Holmes.
Disadvantages: Detective is hard to do. Even reading it sometimes give you a headache.

6) Try to discover weird things that may cure diseases or end life as we know it (Try not to do the second one)
Advantages: Awesome discoveries. (I tried to dissolve a plant. It worked. Almost.)
Disadvantages: Your mum/ maid may wonder what on earth you are doing and try to stop you. (Especially if you tell them you are ending life as we know it)

7) Rent random DVDs/ VCDs to watch
Advantages: It's nice to watch (some of it)
Disadvantages: Where are you going to get them? Buying or renting cost money. Borrrowing is a good idea. Make sure to return it, though.

8)Listen out for good tunes
Advantages: Later in life, you will know more songs and you can impress your friends with your musical knowledge.
Disadvantages: Buying CDs cost money. Listen to the radio only give you songs your fiends probably already know but it is still a good idea.

9) Do not forget the classic video games
Advantages: Come on, it is classic
Disadvantages: 'Classic' also means old. Eventually you will get bored.

Last but not least my favourite thing

10) Create a 'things-to-do-when-you're-out-of-things-to-do box. It is a box, any container, filled with pieces of paper with your favourite things to do. When you are bored, pick out a piece and do what it says.
Advantages: GEE I DON'T KNOW BUT IT ROCKS!
Disadvantages: Unless you update it, you can end up doing things over and over again ,making it a boring box.

Well, I will leave you to enjoy your June holidays, however you choose to enjoy it.

Movie Magic Mania May

It is almost the end of May!!!! So, to end off the month as well as the school term, I give you the info on some really AWESOME movies released in May or early June. Happy School Holidays To Everyone Reading.

Yo Ho Yo Ho A Pirate's Movie For Me!!!!

The highly anticipated movie is here!! Pirates Of The Carribean: At World's End (POTC) is finally in cinemas! The follow-up to Pirate's Of The Carribean: Dead Man's Chest, released about a year ago, is here. Staring the famous Johnny Depp as the comical Captain Jack Sparrow, Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swan and Orlando Bloom as Will Turner. The plot revolves around the three leading actors/actress with Geoffrey Rush and Singapore's Chow Yun-Fat as pirates too but this time, they are on the good side. This awesome swashbuckling movie is fit for all ages. A little note if you are going to watch it. Know roughly what's going on so you can understand throughout the three hours. Many of my family members did not understand. I read the plot on wikipedia and understood throughout. At the end it will pay off.
Mental note to readers: stay until the end, some special awaits.

After Arrgh feeling: 8/10

Long-Lost Poem

As the title suggest, I found a poem supposed to be used in my friends newspapper assignment last June. I found it so here it is, on my blog!!!

Everytime during homework time
How I wished that after every question I were rewarded with a dime
Feeling that this is boring and drives me to sleep
It made me daydream in too deep

How I wished I could invent a homework machine
Like in anyone’s dreams
So as the time spent on homework decreases
The time spend playing the computer increases

The next day in school
I feel like a fool
I’m going to be like deep fried chicken wing
As my homework I did not bring

Song Of The Week (One And Only)

Another Song for the month of May. This week, we take a look at Timbaland's Shock Value. Most songs are too hip-hop for me as I'm into rock and pop. Hip-hop and rap fans will love this album. One recommended song by me is 'One And Only' featuring Fall Out Boy. It is a rocking song with never leaves my head. Although it is EXTREMELY vulgar, it ROCKS!

Song: One And Only
Artist: Timbaland, Fall Out Boy
Album: Shock Value (Out Now)

[Verse 1 - Timbaland]I get over heels for someone (I)That I really can't deal with (deal with) I want to block her out my mind But I really can't do it I tell myself this the last time I'ma let her do this to me Whenever we do spend time I realize that I can't get enough of you
[Bridge - Patrick Stump (Timbaland)] Wipe that smile off your fucking face (Let me say to you)Wipe that smile off your face (Let me say to you) Wipe that smile off your fucking face (Let me say to you) Wipe that smile off your face (Let me say to you)
[Chorus (Patrick Stump):] To be despised To be lovedTo be dreamt of To be sought I'm the inside of "I don't care"Right in the middle I'm right in the middle To be despised To be loved To be dreamt of To be sought I'm the inside of "I don't care"Be my unholy My one and my only
[Verse 2 - Patrick Stump]I wear scarves and hoods 'Cause it's the only poker face that I've got left And everything I love about you is a mess Smash the mirror and break the palm reader's hand I want to be better than I am
[Bridge - Patrick Stump (Timbaland)](Let me say to you)Wipe that smile off your fucking face (Let me say to you)Wipe that smile off your face (Let me say to you)Wipe that smile off your fucking face (Let me say to you)Wipe that smile off your face (Let me say to you)
[Chorus (Patrick Stump)]
[Verse 3 - Timbaland]Girl, just look what you've done How could you do this to me? I gotta put my foot down I can't let you do this to me I can't forget those good ole timesA nd all the things you've been doing to me I wanna hit that one more time I mean love, what your doing to me I'ma say it loud, right here Let's fuck in this crowd Why we arguing I thought me and you were supposed to be Friends Let's chill for minute Better yet we could heal for a minute (for a minute)Baby, put down the knife Sometime I wanna save ya life Why don't you
[Chorus (Patrick Stump)]

I Found Something!!!!

Sorry I haven't upload for sometime. I've been studying for my Common Test. OK. I found something the other day. It was a play I wrote for my class at the end of the year but they never used it. However, they did not make it to perform again during 'Graduatation Night'. Haha, retribution comes. Muhahaha. Ok ok, I'm just kidding. Now let me show it to you. Mind You, It's a little stupid.

Act 1: Classroom Scene
Narrator: Class Primary six. Sitting for PSLE this year. Students, most of them however, not worried or interested.
Bell: Ringgggggggggggggggggg
Teacher: Ok, class recess is over. I have your results for the test you sat for a week ago. Class average, 25. Of a class of 4 pupils, 3 scored 0. If you do simple calculations, which I think most of you will not, 1 person scored 100.
Boy 1: Wahh, so smart, Einstein Kristinsson’s (kris-tin-sonn-s) baby!
Teacher: no, it’s Albert Einstein and no, Jimmy’s last name is not Kristinsson, neither is it neutron so don’t bother asking.
Jimmy: I’m also not a baby, and if you’re asking, you are!
(Teacher gives out the paper)
Boy 1: Really, huh, ow paper cut!!!
Jimmy: Told you so
Boy 2: Wahh, both smart and psychic, oh could you teleport like in the movies?
Teacher: ok, ok, Jimmy, could you please pass me a plaster?
(Jimmy gets the plaster and gives it to teacher)
(Teacher put it on the boy)
Teacher: ok Jimmy, you don’t have to stay back on Friday
Jimmy: Sweet!
Teacher: as for the rest of you, retest on Friday, study hard and George stop bribing me please. If you keep giving me $100 per test, by the end of the year, I would have saved up for 3 limos, 5 bungalows and I would be able to have a money bath every hour.
George (Boy 3): is that expensive?
(Teacher looks irritated)
Jimmy: (facing the teacher) I’ll answer this question for you. (Facing George) to us yes, to you or maybe Bill gates and the president of U.S.A. no
Bell: Ringgggggggggggggggggg
Teacher: ok class dismissed!
Class: yeah!
(Running out of the class)
Narrator: Jimmy, as you can see, is your average brain-ne-act (brain-y-act), but things do not usually appear, as it seems. Soon enough, you’ll realize Jimmy isn’t that happy.
(Two weeks later)
Act 2: Classroom scene
Teacher: ok class results for yesterday’s test average; I’m disappointed to say, 11. But I’m happy to say, boy 1 scored 15, boy 2 scored 14, boy 3 scored 13 and jimmy, I’m disappointed with yours, 2.
Class: huh?
Teacher: you couldn’t even get 1=0+1 correct.
Boy 2: then where did his 2 marks come from?
Teacher: oh, the school had a new policy, write your name, date and index number and 2 marks are free for you. Anyway, to help you out for your retest this afternoon, I will be watching you, if you have any questions feel free to ask me. To keep your mind off the failure, I baked you some cookies.
Boy 1: hey, why didn’t you bake me cookies when I had 2.
Boy 2: yeah me too
Boy 3: yeah me three
Teacher: there is not enough cookie dough in the world
Jimmy: I think I need to see the school counselor
Teacher: ok, what can I do for you, Jimmy?
Jimmy: you’re not the school counselor
Teacher: well, I got a promotion for improving the overall class grades, and I am now a school counselor as well. So, what can I do for you?
Jimmy, I’ve been feeling over-pressurized lately. I feel over-pressurized over-burdened, over-stressed, over…
Teacher: ok, I think I get the picture.
Jimmy: any remedies?
Teacher: To get your grades up, yes. to get your spirits up, no. However, I think I know some people who have remedies for that.
Jimmy: who? Is it people I know?
Teacher: Oh, you know them all right. In fact, they’re in this room
Jimmy: please not your talking pens. You gave them to me when I had the flu and you it would cure me but instead, it gave me a headache.
Teacher: this time I’m meant your classmates
Jimmy: classmate! My classmates! They can’t even do 1 times table!
Teacher: actually they scored full marks in that section. Seriously my point is be a kid, have some fun. But not too much fun. Think about it this way, all work and no play make Jimmy a dull boy.
Jimmy: Jack! Make Jack a dull boy, my name is Jimmy, you can’t change proverbs, but I get your point.
Narrator: and so Jimmy played with his classmates and had fun. Eventually his grades when up and they live happily ever after, too bad this isn’t a fairy tale.
Boy 1: Moral 1 all work and no play make anyone a dull person
Boy 2: Moral 2 Pressure can really be annoying
Jimmy: Moral 3 classmates and teachers are always with no matter what

P.S If you recognise this from Thunderthighs.blogspot.com, it is actually MINE. That was a blog my sisters own. I promise you what I said is true.

20) How can a person be so bored, he searches the internet for the weirdest things, makes a list of it and post it on his blog?

I know wants wrong with this party?!?!?! It's Totally Tame!

Arriving in my dad's car, I got out, looking the best I can. This is when I noticed, Samuel and Yuk Hei jumping out. I scared the living s**h out of me. I was angry but laughing. They told me they came an hour before (5.30PM?!?!?!) due to a mistake made by Samuel. Then, we chilled out for a while, trying to get photos of Mr. Chang's gf. We tried for about ten minutes then gave up. Before we walked into the ballroom, we saw Mr. Goh and Mrs. Yap together! We caught up with Juventino and Desmond outside. We played with our phones and swapped around. Not long later, Jia Hao and Shankkar arrived. We went into the ballroom to get a drink and walked out, still searching for our classmates. I received many messages from Ryan who asked who is here and what to bring. Sean Mak came eventually and so did Ryan. Then, with arrival of Mr Chang, the nine of us made a grand opening. Ryan and Shankkar went on a girl-hunting spree. We Saw Ms Yam and took pictures of her. I also took Mr. Chang's picture. He told me not to. Obviously, he was camera-shy. The nine of us wanted to see Mr. Goh. So we went into the dinning hall, reserved our seats and went to Mr. Goh table. There, we took photos of him, paparazzi style. But we could never get a clear shot. Damn! Then, I got everyone to crowd around him and I took a clear shot. I tried to get photos of Mr. Goh and Mrs. Yap together (they were sitting together and were seen together most of the time). When the MC, arrived and announced the guest of honour (Bro Paul, principal of CJC), my table people were talking away. When people clapped, we joined in. But the MC and our principle were really funny on stage. We ate after praying. Juventino and Desmond both helped to serve others. Good job guys. I brought home the menu so you guys reading can see (I added description too) Cold Dish Combination (octopus, chicken, duck, jellyfish) Double-boiled Chicken Soup with Four Treasures (Pretty tasty and on this dish Juven was a rubbish bin but he did not mind) Sauteed Prawns with Cashew Nuts, Celery, Carrots and Bell Peppers in Yam Ring (all I tasted was the prawns and yam rings) Steamed Chicken with Ginseng and Wolfberries served in Lotus Leaf (God knows how many servings I took) Steamed Garoupa with Superior Soya Sauce and Corriander Leaves (The fish with filled with bones but juicy also the word 'Superior' says all) Braised Black Mushrooms with Abalone Mushrooms in Spinach. Braised Ee-Fu Noodles with Pine Mushrooms and honey Peas (sorry folks, missed these two dishes. Went to hang around. At these dishes, Yuk Hei drank his FOURTEENTH CUP OF COKE) Chilled Mango Cream with Sago and Pomelo (SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST!!!). Then people began to leave. I wanted to take more photos of Mr. Goh and Mrs Yap but they left. Dang! So It's left with the nine of us. We talked and did stuff and dared Shankkar to go to the huge toilet alone to prove Shankkar was a man. But he wasn't one because we went in too.
Summing up, the party at our table was tame, too tame in fact. Mr. Goh and Mr. Chang are camera-shy and Mrs Yap is together with Mr. Goh. Yuk Hei is the winner of 'The Most Coke Drank In This Dinner'. Kyle did not show up. The food was good. The video was good too but the tunes were very BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Camp Wannaweep or Jumpforjoy? (Orientation Camp)

Great. Just great. They had to start the year with a camp! Please let us sleep inside the school. I thought to myself as I stared at the school diary. Fortunately, I was able to postpone my 'fate' for a week, giving me time to prepare. Like a toddler entering a haunted house, I dreaded each passing day. On the day of the camp, I wore a fake smile on my face, trying to stay optimistic, unaware of the 'dangers' lurking in the shadows for the Secondary Ones of Saint Josephs Institution...
How bad could the camp be, right? I told myself before the camp while my classmates expressed their excitement in many ways. My heart raced as the PSL (Peer Surport Group) arrived. Imagine the PSL as dinosaurs about to prey on chickens, which are the Secondary Ones by the way, then you would know how I felt. To contrust on what I felt, the PSL were nice people, like vegetarain dinosaur. One PSL by the name of Johnny related to me quite well, like birds of a feather. He treated me like his younger brother while I looked up to him as my elder brother. I was lucky that he was in charge of my group. Plus, there was another PSL who shared my interest in music. Jarrold, that was his name, was also in hockey, the CCA (co-curricular I was planning to join). He was not around most of the time, due to hockey tournaments, but when he was, he always brought life to the dead. The only disadvantage about him is he is sometimes strict. Timothy was the final PSL in charged of my group. Although he was in different class as Jarrold and Johnny, he fit in quite well not only with them but also with us. I still see them often but we do not engage in long conversations, maybe a hello or quick question.
The camp was enjoyable, on the contary to my thoughts. My vast knowledge of music paid off like a charm. Many of the songs sung during the camp, I have either heard of or knew almost by heart, giving me no problem in singing along. The activities were fun and rewarding too. Many of my classmates had a little leadership qualities in them. Maybe my form teacher would have a hard time choosing the class chairman once I retired.
The camp had almost all good points. Even three months after the camp, I cannot find any bad points. Friendship, trust and co-operation was both put to the test and gained. I found myself saying something I never thought I would say. I dreaded to enter but dreaded to leave as well.
